Public readings

Public Readings will acquaint you with new Baltic dramas. Most of the texts have been translated into Finnish or English exclusively for these readings. The selected passages will be read by Finnish actors. More information about the public readings.

Open forum discussions

Themes and topics arising from the festival performances will be discussed and debated at the open forum discussions, led by the Baltic Circle artistic director Erik Söderblom. Everyone interested in the festival and its artists are most welcome to come and join the discussions! More information about the discussions.

Movies and videos

Movie puffs are not overlooked by the Baltic Circle festival: the screenings include award-winning independent films, shown in Finland for the first time, and sharp satire from Esto TV. More information about the films and videos.

Photo exhibition

Ken Reynolds has photographed theatre for over a decade. His work concentrates on theatre in Russia and Eastern Europe. More information about the exhibition.

Clubs

Daily clubs at Puoli-Q and KokoTeatteri offer you a chance to chill-out after the performances. Come to meet and socialise with theatre people from around Baltic Sea region! More information about the clubs.

The Baltic Circle International Theatre Festival wants to offer its participants, artists and audience alike a chance to meet and discuss. In addition to the ten international performances that you will be able to watch, there will also be other opportunities to enjoy theatre during the festival.

Several new plays from Finland, Russia and the Baltic countries will be read during the public readings. Open forum discussions will give you a chance to meet artists participating in the festival. Film and video screenings and an exhibition of theatre photography will provide additional angles to the themes arising from the theatre performances. Baltic Circle Newsletter, which will come out regularly during the festival, will keep you updated and give you the latest news and comments on events.

Need to calm your emotions down after a performance? Come and chill out at the Festival Club with like-minded people. Doors are open every night at either Puoli-Q or KokoTeatteri.
