Continents on the move

The Baltic Circle International Theatre Festival presents contemporary European theatre from the Baltic Sea region in Helsinki between 21 and 30 November 2003. Half of the performances of this second Baltic Circle Festival have just had their premiers this autumn. Festival’s international programme brings us fresh Baltic reflections on the Soviet era, current political theatre from Sweden, provocative performance art from Norway, and many other fascinating productions spiced up with a European language game.

Special emphasis has been put on bringing fresh and interesting new drama and innovative theatre folk to Helsinki. Therefore, the Baltic Circle festival offers a fantastic opportunity for theatre professionals and audiences alike to meet and exchange ideas.

The Baltic Circle Theatre Festival opens with the Finnish Case, a selection of performances from the current Helsinki theatre scene for the international visitors of the festival.

The festival also offers wide range of additional programme, which includes clubs, public readings, an exhibition of theatre photography, films and videos as well as open forums and discussions. The Festival Newsletter which will come out regularly during the festival, will keep you updated on festival events and discussions.

The heart of the Baltic Circle festival is the premises of Q-teatteri in Töölö, an area right in the vicinity of the centre of Helsinki. Other locations for performances are in KokoTeatteri, Aleksanterin teatteri, Teatteri Takomo and Media Centre Lume.
