In this play everyday life stories in a contemporary
urban block of flats turn into the most unexpected and magical tales,
almost like from Shahrazads Thousand and One Nights. This
Arabian Night tells us of a young woman, Franziska, who remembers
nothing of her life before she moved into a small flat which she
shares with her friend Fatima. Franziska cannot recall that once
she was an Arabian princess. As she falls asleep on the sofa she
has a dream in which she meets three men from her building. And
events start to take on very strange and magical turns... This web
of dreams and stories is made up of five monologues linked together
with great artistic subtlety.
This performance of Arabian Night was initiated
and produced by the international theatre festival, New Drama
Action, which is organized by the Lithuanian Theatre and Cinema
Information and Education Centre. "Cezario grupe"
("Cezarisí Group") is led by one of the most famous
Lithuanian directors Cezaris Grauzinis and it was born during the
making of this performance. It consists of five young actors who
have just finished studies at the Lithuanian Music Academy (acting
class directed by Vladas Bagdonas and Cezaris Grauzinis).
