Radio Doomsdei is a chat show shaped sequel to The Venturer and Children, Birds, and Flowers, the world-touring shows of Houkka Bros. The Venturer was a specimen of table theatre, Children, Birds, and Flowers a living room musical, and Radio Doomsdei will be a live radio broadcast where Men are talking.
Houkka Brothers (Houkka = Fool for Christ's sake) is a collective, which started it's existence through a performance "The Wanderer", based on an old Russian Orthodox legend "The way of a pilgrim". Year 2003 it was made and performed by brothers Sylvester (Tero Nauha, a visual & performance artist), J.J. (Kristian Smeds, a theatre artist) and Frank (Juha Valkeapää, a voice artist). The small-scale table theatre performance toured on several, mostly theatre-orientated festivals in Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belgium, France, Norway, Russia and Hungary, and the brothers decided to make a second part of their religious trilogy: a "living-room musical" about the Catholic saint Francis of Assisi. The brothers took a 4th member, Arvo (Pietu Pietiäinen, a light & sound artist) to tour with them with "The Wanderer" and to prepare the new performance "Children, Birds & Flowers". A third and final part of the trilogy Radio Doomsday is about Martin Luther.
