The Civilization Virus will be raging at the Baltic Circle Festival. @work network's interventions will infiltrate festival locations during other performances. Like any virus, this one spreads, sticks and replicates itself. The Sunday performance will merge together a number of the interventions seen during the festival. Civilization Virus is part of a three-year (2009-2011) project named The Civilization, which aims to present alternative viewpoints on the subject. During the project, @work network will investigate civilization and create performances and events in different parts of Europe.
@work network is a European performing arts network. Since 2004, they have studied social phenomena and produced e.g. performances, seminars, and festivals. The network's members include Reality Research Center/Todellisuuden tutkimuskeskus (Finland), Teatermaskinen (Sweden), TeaterKUNST (Denmark), Emanuelle (Germany), Theatre Entropia (Greece), The Red Room (UK), Teatro Meia Volta (Portugal) and Dirty Deal Teatro (Latvia). Artists from other groups will also be taking part in the events.
