Man-made culture is man's most natural nature
The Rhizome club is a visual-sounding-bodily total installation that leads to an all night party. Everybody is free to choose their personal degree of participation in the installation. There is also space for discussion, dance, music, food-intake and boozing. Human-object hybrids and interwoven plastic, wood and meat will cover the walls and corners. From there they will attack the hot spot dance floor.
The old beards and wigs of Venus - Max Bremer, Ursula Hallas, Paul Holländer, Åsa Nybo, Marja Silde, Marja Skaffari and Juha Sääski - focus on the dialogical relationships of bodies and objects, on manipulating objects and on body techniques, interweaving these with music, sound, movement, voice and speech. Some beer and wine will also be intertwined. And dance. Rock & Body!
Teatteri Venus is a Helsinki-based group established in 1983. The members of the group are said to have been postmodern nomads, queer feminists and pioneers of devising long before anyone had heard of these epithets. Their performances are marked with process-oriented methods usually based on improvisation and a gender-conscious perspective. They gather material from multiple sources and non-theatrical performance spaces, and discuss the audience relationship and the modes of performance in relation to the environment and the prevailing social ethos.
