Saari/Island
 

Saari/ Island is a place at the edge of the world.
Saari/ Island is a play where weather and death are talked about.
Saari/ Island is a play where two strangers look the ocean in the eye.
Saari/ Island is a play put on stage at Espan lava in Helsinki. The audience will be let into the warmth of the stage: the Island.  
 
Saari/ Island performed by Myllyteatteri is a fysical, musical and visual theatre play about humans and the world. Finnish and Japanese will be spoken.
Saari/ Island will guide the audience into memories and dark nights, and finally to silence, which is the common and universal space for all humans.   

 

Myllyteatteri, founded in 2003, is a professional theatre in Helsinki, lead by writer-director Miira Sippola. Myllyteatteri develops stage language which is based on broadening the physical possibilities of an actor and the stage aesthetics. Myllyteatteri aims towards theatre through which one may experience something that is forgotten, and gain hold of the energy common to everything living on Earth. Saari/ Island is the ninth play produced by Myllyteatteri.
