The Selfless

The Selfless is a journey from Helsinki to the rest of Finland, from soberness to drunkenness, from Earth to other planets. The Bistro will be serving the passenger compartments! Welcome aboard! Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one, lift off.

The Selfless uses documentary as its method; the text is based on interviews, questionnaires and well-known facts about famous alcoholics. Selfless (or "itsetön") is an expression in Finnish folklore for an alcoholic - a person who has lost his soul.

Teatteri Takomo is a light-structured room theatre established in 1996. It aims to create polymorphic performances which are in dialogue with the surrounding society, location and the present. Teatteri Takomo is a joint venture of artists who persistently seek and find the necessity for theatre in our times. Teatteri Takomo is about feasibility and the possibilities for persistent, reformative theatre work. It also reaches out to new audiences by touring and regularly inviting artists from outside Helsinki to perform on Takomo´s stage on Fredrikinkatu.
