A group of friends who grew up in the 1990s reunite in the moldy assembly hall of their old comprehensive school. No one’s changed — and yet nothing is the same. Memories and wounds are poked with filthy sticks. Why did we turn out like this? Who’s to blame? Our parents, the nineties, the media, the Minister of Finance? Childhood in the 1990s Finland was part fairy tale, part dystopia: school ski races, first kisses, Kurt Cobain’s sexy, scattered brain, sticky Nintendo controllers, glitter makeup, wife-beating jokes on TV, a gravity bong, and a hand slipping under someone else’s top for the first time.
Life was hell. And we miss it more than anything.
About Q
Q-teatteri is a Helsinki-based theatre company founded by a group of freelance actors in 1990. Since then, it has become a household name in the Finnish theatre scene.
All performances in spring 2026 will be subtitled in English and Finnish!
Our mission is to be a safe haven for contemporary theatre — constantly pushing the boundaries of modern drama. We strive to create performances that would be impossible to create anywhere else. We stage only one production at a time, allowing us to be as artistically and technically ambitious as possible.
Founders Antti ja Leo Raivio, Tommi Korpela and Henriikka Salo in rehersal for Huokausten laakson 1994.
